NEW YORK, NEW YORK -  A stay at home order mends family relationships as they try to keep things “light and fun”.

In these unprecedented times, two families use gratitude and creativity to help create a more positive experience during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The extent and severity of the coronavirus is not something anyone could have predicted. People are becoming “numb” to life indoors.

Streets are empty, businesses are closed, everyone is at home - NYC, “the city that never sleeps” seems lifeless.

“Playing games, sending videos, snapchatting and Facetiming, especially with families overseas.” Maria Barone believes this is the time to reach out to those who you have lost connection with and re-build bonds. Days have become unexciting, but connecting with family is something to look forward to.

Drive through birthday parties and virtual “Happy Hours” have become the new “norm” of family gatherings.

Matthew Deodato, who the government considers an “essential worker”, goes to work every day. Equipped with disposable gloves, hand gel and an N95 face mask are his daily essentials.

New York has already reached its peak, there have been approximately 17,637 deaths collectively. Through all of this madness, Matthew Deodato must take precautions as he is permitted to work, including adhering to rules like social distancing.

Following rules are necessary as he is aware of the tolling death rates, being the highest infected state nationally.

Being surrounded by family is the best thing to come out of this destruction. While these families are careful and cautious, they hope and pray for the best. The desire for life to go back to the way it was is soaring.
